You saw it too

I’m giving this a try- I’m on a train and I thought I would use this time to try and update you via my phone! We’ll see how it goes… I’m en route to visit my cousin, aunt and uncle. On such a short weekend, I would usually not manage the hour long train journey outside London, but I’m making a special effort as she’s managed to shatter her knee in a skiing related escapade. Being of a relatively sympathetic disposition, I’m laden with a bottle of vaguely impressive looking sparkling wine and a grin. I hope it will lift her spirits somewhat!

I took this photograph (again, with this phone) yesterday at a Somerset House exhibition, it was a little A4 watercolour that I thought was quite sweet. I had my eye on it for a friend, but buying artwork for other people is a dangerous game. I didn’t succumb to it in the end. I did however manage to succeed in spending more than I anticipated…

It was an impressively varied selection of work; most of it was prints that were ready to order or take away. I thought that factor might affect the quality, but I was pleasantly surprised. Everyone I was with ended up buying a print – except me – I bought a drawing instead. We all spent a long time deciding which to opt for as it was difficult to decide without having bottomless budget and with the knowledge we have all regretted NOT buying artworks in the past but never regretted going for it.

– Today Rosie is seeing her cousin and tomorrow will be making the trek back up to Glasgow in a car –
