Sun, rain, sun, no, rain, rain, sun

(Rain and sun over the past week: Glasgow, Scotland)

It has been a very mixed, jumbled up week indeed. The weather is the least of my hindrances, but it has been extreme nonetheless. Apparently last week Glasgow saw the most rainfall in 24 hours since records began. For Glasgow, that is a major feat – but as you can see in the left hand image, it was too much to drain all at once. Saying that, I have to admit that very rarely does it rain heavily and solidly for an entire day and night, but recently it has. It has been tempered with equally solid bouts of sunshine – usually mixed in between the showers. Portions of the park were under feet of water last week and swathes of pathway were completely impassable.

I took the right hand image after a heavy morning’s rain. If you recall, this same area of Kelvingrove Park is usually crammed with people on such a spectacular weekday afternoon, but that day, the park was deserted except for some stalwart dog walkers and me. There I am in the picture, looking very small indeed, despite the cracking (short-term) weather. I felt a bit silly doing this – and now admitting it – but I was so alone in the park that there was nobody to take this shot. I waited until enough people were far enough away, I set my bag down, fiddled with my camera and sat it atop a large (but rain clean) bin. Then I set the timer and ran and ran and ran until I reached the middle of the hill there. Then I walked back, leisurely, whistling, trying to attract as little attention as possible. A park ranger van crept past so they must have seen my inexplicable energetic sprint and then my sidling back to the bin and my effects. The things I do for world meets rosie.

There’s lots more work on the horizon, and I had yet another fun filled weekend – so more (interesting) updates coming soon!

– Today Rosie is having her bicycle overhauled and is trying to have an early night in Glasgow, Scotland –
