Ladprao (this road)

(View along road to Pete’s house: Ladprao, Bangkok)

The traffic in Bangkok is usually at a standstill – I thought China was bad but Thailand is definitely ten times worse.  We climbed to the top of this bridge to get a view over the street with the traffic below us and a night market being set up to our right.  We were heavily laden with our haul from the market and the day was very hot so a pause on the bridge was a welcome break.  I have taken so many pictures here that the ‘on’ button has snapped off my camera, rendering it almost useless.  Thankfully Pete has one that we are sharing at present.

You can see two cyclists in the bottom right of the photograph; I don’t think I could cycle here for fear of being mangled by the cars which change lanes with even more alacrity than those in China.  Bangkok never seems to sleep, not for a moment, and the vehicles jamming the roads never really fully disperse.  Perhaps you can see what I meant about the colour in Thailand from this shot; the cars appear in more colours, there are more colourful signs and even the people seem to wear more colour.  I feel closer to the colour I imagine to be in India or Malaysia when I’m here.

  1. The name of the main road is just Ladprao. “Soi” means substreet, so if you include it you have to specify which substreet of Ladprao you’re talking about!

  2. Apologies. Noted and amended.
