(The new back garden lawn: Glasgow, Scotland)

Just a quick update: Today is day 9 after seeding the lawn and there are shoots! The combination of mild autumnal days and bouts of heavy rain has done it good and it is growing. It is patchy just now, with very tiny, slender shoots that look all too fragile to be left outside on their own, but I am sure that with this decent start, we’ll have all over greenness in a few weeks.

In other good news (that you have probably already heard, I have succeeded in my application and interview to work for Glasgow University in the capacity of tutor! It is a wider access programme for which I will go to schools in the Glasgow area to help young people make decisions and plan for their higher education futures. I believe the clincher was my presentation on working as a manager in a Shelter charity shop – I got the laughs I was looking for and lots of questions. I had some help in this from the current manager and good friend, Roisin, but also three other friends who helped me go through it. It was a daunting day before the interview as I must concede that with all the other things going on around here, I had much less than twenty-four hours in which to prepare the entire presentation and accompanying giant penned flowchart. That was something I chose not to mention in the interview.

  1. I think you should aim to make it look like the previous post.
