Red cheeks
(Mist in the park: Glasgow, Scotland)
I just thought I’d drop this photograph in, simply because it makes the park look so eerily different from its normal open, breezy state of affairs. The cold and ice has brought the mist with it and my grandmother often calls me in the mornings as she can barely see out of her windows one floor up. It is much worse outside the city centre, with the slightly unpleasant sensation of being trapped inside a freezing cloud- I think it spooks her.
I have a slightly amusing (although partially infuriating) anecdote to regale you with, concerning yesterday’s passport related tomfoolery. It has become quite the saga. Having had my photographs taken in a photographic shop, with a real camera, by a real person in order to reduce the risk of horrible pictures. I discovered after printing that I looked utterly ghastly yet again. This time, the lighting was unflattering in the under eye region, aging me by at least eight years. For a twenty five year old, this is quite a substantial age gap, especially considering I’ll have to put up with it for some time. But I had my pictures, I had picked up and filled in the forms, made the calls, written my reference number and found the office so I could attend my appointment. Everything was in order, well, in too much order as it happens.
The effervescently cheery lady at the desk saw me immediately and set to processing my quick passport documents. We checked the form, the photos, the reference numbers and the old passport. After making some comments on the numerous stamps inside, she inquired into why I wanted a new passport so swiftly when I still had over a year left on it. “Pardon?” I took it from her and looked at the expiry date; “July 12”. July 2012. How could I have overlooked it? She then asked me, “I did wonder. Well, would you like to abandon ship then?” I nodded, realising the extent of my buffoonery. “Oh well!” she chirped, “perhaps we’ll meet again next year, eh?”
– Today Rosie is having meetings and seeing her Gran in Glasgow, Scotland –

K-K-K-Conscientious! How could you miss the year on the date! Sigh.
I think Rosie really needs a holiday, a long… enough holiday
Yes, what a splendid idea!
Yes, a holiday until July
