Paper shelter
(Bus shelter: Shanghai)
Ying won’t thank me for this shot, but he happened to be in the way. Since we couldn’t figure out where we were in relation to buying train tickets to get home, he is poring over GPS on his iPhone; such a lot of technology (that I barely understand). This happens quite frequently, the disorientation scenario, but I intend to bring a compass and map next time I go and we’ll see who’s quickest.
This doesn’t look like the most amazing bus shelter ever, but I believe it may be; I’m often exasperated by the number 42 bus in Glasgow, it is a disgrace and I always spend considerable time waiting for it, however much I prepare. This shelter, however is lined with the morning newspaper, for just such an occurrence – no one will ever be staring at the ground and tapping their feet here again. Such a simple act, yet I’ve never seen it before. I think it’s great, except that obviously it was in Chinese. It may take some time before I can take full advantage of this generous service.
