Name the bike

(Rosie attempting to wink, standing in the foyer with the new e-bike)

Here’s the new bike I’ve been so excited about.  She’s a real beauty!  The great thing about this one is that you can choose to cycle or ride, which is most useful when the battery cuts out.  Like most other electric bikes and scooters, there are two seats so Ying and I usually buzz around on it together.  We take turns so no one has to feel like an idiot on the back seat for too long.  Many girls ride side saddle on the back in killer heels, but I’m not ready to tackle that challenge yet. Neither is Ying.

These bikes are totally silent so you never hear them creeping up behind you – unless you get beeped at with the (also electric) horn which all bikes are automatically provided with.  So as well as all the car horn, the different tones of bike horns are interspersed within the traffic noise too.

Now, competition time: if you have a nice idea for a name, I’d really like to call her something good.  I thought about ‘White Lightning’, ‘MJ’ (in light of recent events) and ‘Lucky…something’ but I thought I’d open out the forum so we can come up with a great original name.  No rules, just keep it inoffensive!  It would be fun to have either (or both) Chinese or English names.  I’ll let you know the verdict when a decision is made.  Please leave your suggestions here.

  1. My suggestion for name: either “White Horse” or “White Knight”

  2. Stolen Thunder… sorry I’m still affected by the fact that my bike was stolen this week.

Shhhexay pose, though. Heels next time, please.

  3. I will set the students and Beth on the case but bearing in mind what she came up with for your folders on the puter I might have to email them rather than post them here!!!

  4. By the way excellent modeling skills you’ll be draped over cars next!!
    Luv Ya

  5. My suggestion is Moon Stroller.
i think moon is a proper word to use. Don’t you think that you have landed
    the moon.
isn’t stroll is better than walk. more relax, isn’t it?

  6. You could name her after the ‘Hoff’s preferred sentient mode of transport:

    ‘KITT’

    ah, the memories

  7. I’d call it Dan.

  8. Vogue have just been on the phone asking for your number.
    How about “Easy Rider”!?
Lally will never be able to visit you there – she’d never wear a dress for more than a couple of hours.

  9. The Wheely-Bin. For when you’ve wheely bin places.

  10. Sorry. Can’t visualize you both on this at once. Let alone both of you in a single pac-a-mac. I suppose Ying’s knees will keep his ears protected!

Your blog is far more interesting than my revising.

  11. Hils, that’s almost a compliment…I should hope this is more interesting! Otherwise I’ve failed miserably! We both fit on the bike but usually I have to go on the back. Ying’s too heavy.

  12. I have to say its a definite ‘Mike’ or perhaps ‘Chauncey’ or what abouts ’susan the second’. Its like the hardest question every asked in history. Looks great and expensive. Have loads of fun.
