Magenta marvel

(Coordinated blossom and car: Suzhou, China)

I have a bicycle here that I use almost daily to do food shopping and to get around the place quickly. Suzhou is quite a big city (by European standards) and walking isn’t much of an option most of the time. As a useful extra, the bike has a second cushioned seat on the back for a passenger, so Ying and I were darting off on it to buy train tickets and passed this scene; a vision in magenta. I got Ying to screech to a stop so we could have a better look.

How the car managed to be exactly the same shade as the blossom is incredible – it’s the first time I have ever seen such an exuberant colour of car in Suzhou and it just happens to be nestled up next to these trees – also the most vibrant I have seen. I had to stop to take a picture so you can also enjoy the brief spring season here. Today it is sunny again, though yesterday all my washing was torn off the line from the gale force winds. All the locals have complained that the weather at present is completely unpredictable and bizarre – they all claim that these shifts in temperature and weather are utterly new and it has never happened before. I don’t mind so much – it makes me feel more at home.
