Lounging

(Living room of the flat, with balcony)

For those of you (like my mother) who actually want to see where we live, here you go.  It’s a bit different to the fully carpeted place – including kitchen and bathroom – I’ve gotten used to in Glasgow.  It’s a nice place, but as you can see it’s a little Spartan at the minute.  I’d like to get some things on the walls to make it feel more like home and less like a lodging.

You can see a couple of seats out on the balcony and above them there’s a pulley for laundry.  We have a magical washing machine that sings when you switch it on, I’ll see if we can record that so you can hear – it’s beautiful.  Behind me, there’s a dining table and chairs and the kitchen is beyond that.  We bought a rice cooker that is very exciting for me (and for all you font nerds, it seems to have a poor man’s Comic Sans on the front.  I’ll likely document that here too).  In the front of the picture, bottom left, you can see a tall metal box – that’s the battery for the electric bike!  It is my favourite thing at the minute, domestic appliances included – pictures soon.

  3. I’m glad to hear that this serves some educational purpose as well as being full of silliness! Good thing I’m keeping it moderately clean. If you want to see anything in particular, drop me a line and I’ll get the old camera out. Requests gladly received!

  4. Hey rosie, I’m loving your adventures in China, I feel like I’m much more cultured now just having read your brilliant commentary and seen all of your pictures! Funny though, when I first saw the picture of the model in the gardens I thought it was you! Was thinking you had integrated quickly!! I know, I’m an idiot! Your flat looks really nice, although I am a bit worried about your love for the sound of the washing machine! Hmm requests…I’d like to see a picture of you on the electric bike carrying a washing machine on the back, then I’ll know you’ve really settled in! xx
