Lickable lion

(Mosaic lion protecting Doi Suthep Temple: Chiang Mai, Thailand)

These are the kinds of sights that made me feel much closer to India than I do in China – the sheer colour and jewel like decoration in every glittering rainbow hue.  The statues in China are often breathtaking, but here they are almost living; their scaly skin appears to move and they simultaneously look like a sweetshop dream.

In other news, Ying and I are both on the road to recovery – I am still sickly, but nowhere near as bad as I was.  Thanks to Ying’s dedicated care (and a lapful of drugs) I am coughing my way back to recovery, just in time too, as Ying’s mum is visiting as of Wednesday.  If she thinks she’s escaping mention in these posts, she is very much mistaken!

  1. Oh…! I better behave myself.

  2. I think it would be better for this journal if you didn’t behave yourself. More fun stories! I never do which is… how I get sick, I suppose.
