Imperial sisters
(Auntie Jane and Mum as members of the Imperial household: Beijing, China)
Just a short post today; we left for a day of sightseeing just after 9am and arrived back just now – after 9pm. There has been precious few moments sitting down and I’m completely exhausted. The goofball sisters have been mushing me along like a huskie with a sled.
Here they are, dressed up for a photo opportunity atop a hill in Jingshan Park, just beyond the borders of the Forbidden City in which we spent most of the day. Jane allowed me to use this hilarious shot of her looking like Mr Steptoe – she’s a good sport, and finally you can also experience the extent of the goofball sisters antics. My mum is on the right, making sitting down look difficult. I must admit that the seemingly ornate headdresses (though very shabby close up) were very painful to wear, even for a couple of minutes, this may explain her stiffness in being seated. More pictures of us in the costumes will no doubt appear here soon as there are an abundance of them.

haha, very interesting.
this was an embarrassing moment flashed up your blog for my students to see only to find a 4ft by 5ft picture of my mother gurning in full Chinese dress! much laughter ensued.
hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. now i get why this story is so hillarious! glad jane approved of its use.
