Grim outlook

(Looking over the sea and the bandstand: Dundee, UK)

If you were disappointed with my absent post yesterday, be assured that I woke up this morning and the very first thought that came into my head was “Oh no! I forgot!” I don’t really know how it happened. I had friends over for dinner and I suppose my expressively loose routine was disturbed and I just…well, I forgot to sit and write.

Here then is another catch up photograph of my weekend in Dundee. Had this structure been in a foreign country, I would certainly have documented it – therefore Hazel humoured me by allowing me to climb inside, in an ungainly and less than ladylike way. According to her, there is a full size bandstand in a nearby park, so this is a miniature copy that exists for no reason (as far as I can gather) other than the one I have expertly illustrated here. From personal experience, Dundee often goes by two other names; Fundee is marketed by the council to encourage visitors and Scumdee is a rather unfair title that I have heard more than once during my time in Scotland. I like Fundee, though it is perhaps a little misleading – hwever, one could be fooled by this image into thinking that it has dinky buildings all over, but alas. Dundee appears to be a lovely seaside town with attractive houses along the main roads and long, sloping lanes heading towards the sea. I imagine in the sun, it is delightful, but of course in the winter months, Scotland commonly tends to feel drippy and grim at worst and bright and chilly at it’s very best. What you can see here are above average weather conditions, I’m afraid!
