Graffiti bamboo
(Tiger Hill: bamboo graffiti and a bridge over a waterfall)
I wanted to put both of these images up, but both are quite slender! So rather than cheat you out of a nice big image, I’ve given you two. Here is Tiger Hill again; this is one of the central focal points, it is actually a double bridge and we are positioned on the lower one, looking up. You can see now how verdant and green it is and how pleasant it could be on a warm, slightly breezy day. Unlike other gardens I’ve visited here, this one is more of a wilderness, and quite a varied one.
On our way from here to the “clouds melted in tea fragrance” bit, we traversed a forest of bamboo which was quite fun for me, as I’ve never been in one. I’ve wanted to mention that there is hardly any graffiti here at all; I have spotted some only on three occasions, here scratched into bamboo, a miniscule moustache on a poster and on a half pipe in a tiny skate park. This mainly depicted pictures of animal characters and any text was in English stating “no girls” or something equally innocuous. It looks like people here sometimes use bamboo as we might have used trees at one time to carve lover’s names or dates. I assume this is a name, signed off with 2009, but it is nothing like the western street art that appears everywhere, in all major urban areas in Europe.
