Golden Glasgow
(Sunset over Kelvingrove Park: Glasgow, UK)
Since my office and my bedroom occupy the same space, occasionally I experience a slight cabin fever situation where I have to get out and either change my surroundings a little or meet people. Today I decided to meet Glasgow herself – I have been a little cantankerous since coming ‘home’ after my Berlin / London jaunt and I felt it was time to reintroduce myself. I was probably feeling more out of sorts because I had the impression I had fallen out of love with my adopted hometown and this is a disconcerting sensation. Over the course of my hour long ramble through and around the park, I decided that Glasgow is no less wonderous, surprising and beautiful than when I left, it just rains a lot more than I remembered.
I realised as I walked towards the park that I have not gone there for the simple pleasure of just walking in a long time. I am always going somewhere, to do something and today it felt very positive to step out with no aim but to keep moving from the cold. I keep my trusty camera with me at all times, and so managed to take some rich sunset pictures like this one, over the roofs of the very desirable residences by the park’s edge.
Unfortunately, I fell prey to an attack in the park and I almost started running to get away – it was wholly unexpected, but in the end, I think my assailant got the biggest shock. The (somewhat large and portly) squirrel was crossing the path as I walked along it, so I paused to let him* pass. Instead of skipping away as I anticipated, he trotted right up to me and stood next to my shoe, peering up expectantly. I recall telling him he was a cheeky so and so, but regardless of my haranguing him, he continued to wait. I reached into my bag for my camera – such cheek could not go undocumented. He evidently believed I was about to produce a nutty treat, but alas, after leaping onto my leg and shimmying up to my thigh, he had presumed incorrectly. I was quite astonished and immediately made a little jump backwards in surprise, jolting his foothold and he ran off. He was quite heavy for a rodent and I certainly wasn’t going to spend the next ten minutes ferreting him out of my bag or nursing a squirrel bite. Hence, I am firmly back in Glasgow’s clutches – whether I like it or not – and for the time being, I am quite content with that.
*I’m using ‘him’ because it is my firm belief that this particular squirrel was a ‘he’, based on nothing more than instinct.

Wow! beautiful sunset colour, except I am a bit confused of the scene.
I suppose this is only th sky? That is good enough.
Just the sky, the chimneys and some trees framing the scene. I could only get these colours if I concentrated only on the sky – glad you liked it!
