German mahjong
(Stephan, Regina and Ying playing Mahjong: Suzhou, China)
Really quick post tonight – Ying and I are frantic with packing and organising. Funny story too, I er… I thought my flight was booked for Tuesday but well, I was wrong. I have a vague suspicion I have done this before. Ying has been quite patient, considering my complete helpless uselessness in managing my own affairs.
These two characters are a German couple we have befriended through other friends. I transpired that they too enjoy a spot of Mahjong, so we decided to spend a jolly evening together, just Mr Ferrero Rocher and us. We were using the sweets and the preserved lychees as betting chips. (Lychees are worth five ‘hua’ or ‘flowers’ and the rocher, ten.) It works quite well, except that winning more brown, shriveled spheres hasn’t got the thrill of hard cash – even if the hard cash is in small amounts.
We are playing in our lounge, so the mess you can see on the wall is all mine, just in front of where my working desk sits. It was so cold over wnter that I had to vacate the study room and camp out in the lounge. Currently it looks as if a small child has blu-tacked her own world on the wall. But it was me. I think, in the end, Regina and Stephan beat us at Mahjong – I didn’t win a single round. The last time, it must have been beginners luck. Next time. Perhaps that’s why Ying looks so despondant on the right, and maybe my luck was connected to the automatic table from last time, http://china.analoguegirl.co.uk/peng/.
Regina also has her own blog, one which I find utterly hilarious, it has more pictures and more silly stories about China. I am also impressed that it is in German with English translations. Have a look: http://www.reginainchina.de/Default_e.htm. (Click on the right hand side of the screen on ‘link to picture collections’ for a good round up.)
– Today Rosie is in frantic air transit towards the UK –

) hehe
Thanks for advertising our blog, Stephan is writing most of the stories, even though my name is on top (ghost writer
Easy to see, I had fun with Mahjong that night, but I think Ying did win. We forgot to count the lovely brown Lychees. How ever, Stephan started to search for the automatic table, as expected, he is obsessed with this new toy.
Good luck! Take care, Regina
You forgot to mention the autographed picture on the wall that Eddie Izzard sent you.
NICE,
and great pictures from the Mahjong night and drumming Ying on the German-Webblog. I like Rosie’s new hair style!!!
Have a good flight and see you soon.
