Fish market

(Display at a fish market: Bangkok)

I assisted Pete today with the purchase of three new Siamese fighting fish (what else in Thailand?), but only after spending the entire afternoon trawling a fish and pet market for the final glorious specimens.  I have never seen so many fish all together in my life; huge catfish, arowana (dragon fish costing thousands of pounds), fighters, rays, koi carp, lumpy looking goldfish, then lobsters, newts, turtles and then more pets; puppies, parrots, quail, finches, birds of paradise, kittens, all manner of rodents, reptiles and fowl.

This stall had a display of guppies sold in bags of one hundred for the equivalent of a few British pounds.  Such a haul would easily be clocking up mid range triple figures in the UK.  The bags are hanging from the ceiling strut of the covered market stall and there were many tiny bags resting in a pile on the table below like packs of earrings, but instead of holding jewels, they were water filled bubbles for single fish sold for pennies.
