Fancy flats

Since my arrival here, I’ve been included and welcomed by all the staff at Ying’s work, especially by Sisi, the partner of the director. She has been very generous with her time and helped us find our new flat (which we will move into at the weekend). I accompanied her for fun to look around some flats that are vastly out of my price range! Here’s one of the views from an immense three-storey apartment. I was surprised by the size of these spaces and the attention to detail, yet they lack the simple atmosphere of a real home. It looks over the Jinji lake, which I understand was completely drained in order to build a road and other structures. Once finished, the lake was re-filled. The enormity of such a procedure by British standards is ridiculous, but perhaps here, vast amounts of money, influence and manpower can get enormous things done.
