Dunce

(The dunce in Scotland Street School Museum: Glasgow, UK)

A quick post today as I’m sure we all have many things to do on Christmas Eve! My family and I have the usual rituals to attend to; obviously making preparations for Christmas Day – the food, the drinks, picking Ying up from the station, the last little bits of cleaning and tidying before welcoming the day in. I’ll be wiping my nose for much of the day, I should think, I have contracted yet another cold (brought on by skiing I suspect) and I’ll be trying not to infect everyone. My Gran made it onto a different flight in the end, so the Cunningham raucousness may commence unabated.

Just to explain today’s image, Ying and I spent an afternoon a couple of weeks ago in one of Glasgow’s museums; Scotland Street School. We played games (like Connect 4 and Operation), pretended to teach classes and also having a go with the dunce’s hat. Ying was trying out some new camera functions and this is one of the results. We found the hat next to a stuffed owl and some chalk. The museum is oddly unkempt and has ephemera lying everywhere that we weren’t sure was supposed to be ‘interactive’ or not. We interacted with most of it anyway – after all “It is better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.”

– Today Rosie will be doing lots of things in Carlisle, UK –
