Dead alive!
(Hallowe’en Zombie Walk in Kelvingrove Park: Glasgow, UK)
If you want to know how I fixed my server error – no idea. I tried switching the broadband off and on again and now it works. They could be unrelated actions, but I like to think I managed to amend the error myself.
I’ve already put up a picture of this ghoulish event before, but as I was flicking through some images, I thought it was worth another mention – if only for the man in the bottom left image that was convincingly gunned down by a child. You can see the young offender still clutching his yellow gun in the background. So far as I could tell as a bystander, the child was simply shooting everybody and this man reacted somewhat dramatically. It was all very creepy indeed; he lay sprawled on the ground for longer than really necessary. It almost reached the point of unease, that people were considering leaing down to help him up, but he eventually coughed into life again, picked himself up jerkily and shambled away into the melee. It was a chilly day for such antics but he put on a great show – he made the event for me.
You can possibly visually appreciate for the first time how bizarre the event was in the sense that in these four photographs, there is a mix of both the living and the living dead, milling around as if this were a normal walk in the park – especially apparent in the top left image of the jumpsuit clad zombie, powering through the crowds. I particularly like the zombified girl, blood spattered and texting on her phone. It’s endearing to notice that she has put much effort into whitening her ghastly arms, yet has a pair of peachy pink legs underneath them. For some reason, the mad hatter from the most recent Alice in Wonderland adaptation (top right) was also spotted amongst the zombies. I took his photo quickly because his costume was astoundingly detailed and accurate and he seemed to be enjoying his ‘fame’ immensely.
