Cocktail roof

(Pete on the rooftop bar of the Banyan Tree Hotel: Bangkok)

Pete took me to the highest bar in Bangkok on the rooftop of a hotel.  It was incredibly busy and we both passed the door test of having proper shoes and not showing too much leg.  Once up there, the view is of course fantastic; an impressive 360 degree panorama of Bangkok in all its illuminated, rushing, humid glory.

There was an added novelty in that there is no proper lighting on the rooftop, so as you can see, we were offered miniature torches to peruse the menu.  It seemed a little cumbersome, perhaps a backlit menu would just be too much!  However, we spent a couple of hours drinking in the atmosphere of the city below us and obliging couples by taking their holiday photographs.

  1. I don’t like it either, but my parents love it. There’s a restaurant in my hometown that makes durian into balls and fries them, which by the way taste good and doesn’t smell that horrible.

  2. For some reason, the comment above has ended up on the wrong post! It refers to the previous one about Durian… no idea why…

  3. the durian post is gone! I wanted to comment as wel…
