Burnol babe

(My legs, complete with bites: Thailand)

I woke this morning to this after a heavy evening of Chinatown, followed by a bar, then a club.  I have no idea what is biting me, but it isn’t a mosquito.  The same thing happens to me in China, but never to such a horrendous degree.  The darker, cherry coloured blemishes are older bites from mosquitoes, but there are thirteen fresh ones from another insect that appeared overnight.  They get itchier in the afternoons and reach a point on the second day (possibly as my body’s defences attempt to fight the poison) when they feel very hot to the touch.  Like most images of myself here, it isn’t my finest hour, but I feel it is my duty to offer you as complete a portrait of my life as I am reasonably able.

If you have any clue either what it might be biting me or what best to treat the bites with, drop me a line!  I have been treating them thus far with a buttery cream called ‘Burnol’ which Pete offered me and a technique I was recommended by Ying’s father, which is to caress them extremely gently, relieving some of the itch.  So far, this combination of treatments has worked to some degree, but I still feel like I’m infected with chickenpox or infested with lice.

  1. oh dear, poor girl. I think you just be bitten by mosquito like stuff and when it happened to me, I will use this stuff, http://img.39.net/yp/jzlr/296554.jpg
I think it is quite easy to find in any pharmacy in China, but I am not sure if you can find it in Thailand. Good luck. Miss you. xx

  2. Ow Ow Ow. Try to get hold of some extra strength vitamin B12. It must be B12 not any of the others. It won’t work straight away but will make a significant difference in the next week or so as long as you take them daily. I have been taking it for my tingling nerves but in Venice Jane was bitten all over like you on a daily basis whereas I had only one mini bite the whole week.

  3. Have you considered bedbugs (no offence Pete)? Many people don’t react to being bitten and so have no idea they are harbouring them. Apparently they’re on the rise in the UK and can be picked up as easily as sitting on a bus. Found this picture for reference:

  4. Pete suggested bedbugs, but these bites happened all at once and never again. I reckon something got me sitting down or more likely, in the car. They’re in one line right down one leg!
