Bukit Timah monkey fever
(A monkey at Bukit Timah Nature reserve: Singapore)
Just a brief one in case I have no chance to update you! Again yesterday, we had a long day of family friend visits – I met two families that have been close to Ying’s family for many years. The chatter was deeply entertaining; one of the friends is a doctor specialising in um… what shall we say… blockages of the post intestinal kind. He both repelled and compelled his eager audience with a serious of almost unbelievable anecdotes from his workplace, each of them causing more hilarity than the last.
On the way home, we quickly stopped by the nature reserve to spot monkeys. We didn’t have to look any further than the carpark; this individual was enjoying the latent warmth of the car roof and scratching itself copiously as we looked on. It seems that monkeys are no novelty for the locals, but for me, watching them sunning themselves on pavements and gawping at afternoon joggers is a real treat.
Only one day left before I wind my way back to the UK – there’s so much more to say about this trip, I have hardly even scratched the surface. There are never enough hours in the day to express myself here and live it simultaneously, so you will have to wait a while before all the intricacies of the trip unfold in the coming days and weeks!
Mosquito bite tally: 2 more on my right knee. Why they appear in clusters, I have no idea.
