Bodge job
(Half painted building: Little India, Singapore)
I enjoyed discovering this little gem of a paint job in Little India – I’m not sure if they just ran out of paint or figured that they had painted far enough back that visitors would be fooled. It’s brilliant. I like Little India’s authentic shabbiness – what I mean by that statement is that some new buildings in China, Singapore and Thailand appearshabby very quickly, as though they have been built and then immediately forgotten about. This building has an air of long term slight neglect, as if the proprietor will ‘get round to it’ or is waiting for the place to become so ragged that they can perform a complete overhaul. It gives the place a bit of run down chic character and I miss this from many urban areas. It could be that I’m just a bit odd.
I might not manage to write anything until the weekend – we’ll see. I’m ill prepared for being in Milan until then (if the volcano doesn’t get me this time).
– Today Rosie is in transit to Italy, on her way to visit Ying –

is the vulcano still active?
The last I heard, it was still emitting plumes of ash three weeks ago… I can’t find anything more recent though.
