(Dave and I, with hats: Taynuilt, Scotland)

I am the proud owner of a number of hats, many of which I enjoy sporting in the vastly different temperatures and weathers that the British Isles have to offer, but this one is by far the warmest. I have worn this one skiing, walking, cycling, in the rain, in snow, on dry winter days and it has ever remained staid and stalwart. It is also extremely versatile, as you can see. We were able to modify our ‘look’ from Slavic fur pork pie hat to jumbo long eared cap in a matter of seconds. Dave and I opted for catalogue poses followed by a series of bewildering hat alterations. I think they’re a couple of lovely moments.

This style of hat has become popular (at least in Scotland) this year for its practical attributes; as Dave and I are displaying. Not only can it make the wearer look almost adorable with its oversized proportions, but it has the benefit of hugging the face with a fuzzy lining, repelling the biting cold. Everyone seems to be wearing these long eared hats from grannies to small children. I procured mine last year in the height of the winter season and I believe that with some discretion, much like a pair of cowboy boots, it can be worn for any occasion. I wore mine to a fancy restaurant today.
