All of the above

(All of the above. L-R: Myself, Antonia, Robbie and Anna in the exhibition space: Edinburgh, UK)

Yesterday I made it back through the snow drifts to Glasgow! ‘Travel chaos’ has basically plateaued to a ‘Sunday service’ situation where there are simply less trains running and everything takes a fraction longer than usual. To commemorate this, the final day of the ‘all of the above’ exhibition, I thought I’d show you the people involved. Here we are in the window, holding a dressmaker’s dummy we found in the back of the shop. I wore my spangliest jumper for the occasion and we served whisky toddies to warm all our customers through. In the shop, we also found an illuminated folding Christmas tree, ‘Curvy Carol’, some tea bags, a wide ironing board and a microwave. We used all of them, except Carol.

The shop we were using as a space used to be called ‘Curvy Girl’ and judging by some of the fixtures and fittings left over, it was a place for the procurement of clothes for tall, larger women. There was a mannequin in the back shop that we christened ‘Curvy Carol’, and her ample chest always seemed to be at eye level. Even with just one real person making tea in that room, Carol seemed to take over and demand the eye’s attention. Anyway, yesterday was a much better day for us with many visitors and sales to match. Basically, the exhibition was supposed to be a pre Christmas moneymaker for all of us, but with the weather being ‘the worst in 20-40 years’ depending on which channel of news one cares to listen to, it hasn’t been the bonanza we were hoping for. However, there’s a chance of doing it again if the snow ever clears. Watch this space.
